Arrest Made in Halloween Assault and New Crime Alert Nov. 12, 2014 – Robberies

The police has made an arrest in the Halloween sexual assault.  See DNA info article.

Below is a crime alert issued November 12, 2014 for robberies around Halsted and Lake St.

In addition, there was another robbery closer to Skinner Park around Ashland and Jackson that a neighbor and fellow park user email us about.  We were able to get more details about the offenders from the police at the November 11 CAPS Beat 1231 meeting.

Armed robbery with a handgun October 20th at 11pm 1600 Jackson

Police Report #HX476249.

Offenders were a couple in a dark Pontiac Bonneville sedan with a female driver.   The male would jump out of the car and display a gun and demand valuables and get away in the car.

About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to citizens in the 012th District (Near West) of robbery incidents which have occurred during the month of November. In these incidents, multiple offenders approach victims and one displays a handgun while the others take property. Incident times and locations are listed below:
800 Block of W. Fulton Market on November 7, 2014 at approximately 10:11 PM.
800 Block of W. Fulton Market on November 7, 2014 at approximately 10:12 PM.

About the Offenders:
Offender descriptions vary, but are generally described as:
4 Male/Black offenders, 20-25 years of age, 5’10”-6’2″, 150-200 lbs.

What you can do:
• Always be aware of your surroundings
• Report suspicious activity immediately
• If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
• Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc…)
• Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
• If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
• Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible
